2023 Sanlam Group Awards for Excellence in Financial Journalism – A message from the chair of the independent judging panel

“As chair of the independent judging panel for the 2023 Sanlam Group Awards for Excellence in Financial Journalism, and on behalf of my colleagues on the panel, I wish to say I am encouraged by the response so far in this year’s call for entries, from Africa’s financial journalism community. It is great to see such interest and commitment to excellence in African financial journalism.

The judging panel will have its work cut out when we start reviewing all the entries. As usual, we appreciate seeing the widest possible array and the best stories in African financial journalism. We encourage all African financial journalists to keep telling Africa’s economic progress objectively and brightly.

As journalists accustomed to deadline pressures, I am sure you welcome the challenge to gather and submit your best work of 2023 in the remaining 10 days or so until entries close on 29 February.” Stated Professor Nixon Kariithi, Chair of the Independent Judging Panel.
