Addis Jazz Festival 2025 announces programme

By:

The organisers of the Addis Jazz Festival 2025 have unveiled the programme and lineup of artists set to perform in the Ethiopian capital from February 7-9.

Among the artists who will take to the stage in the three-day music extravaganza is Ethiopian legend Kuku Sebsebe, who will be joined by the legendary Dawit Yifru.

Along with Hailu Mergia and Mulatu Astatke, Yifru is regarded as one of the great composers in the history of Ethiopian jazz, with a career that has spanned over 50 years. His influence on modern Ethiopian music is profound, with many considering him the creator of the contemporary Ethiopian sound.

As the bandleader of the legendary Roha and Dahlak bands, Dawit, meanwhile, has collaborated with some of the greatest musicians in Ethiopia, including Muluken Melesse, Neway Debebe, and Kennedy Mengesha.

Other artists to look forward to include Tigray Cultural Group (Ethiopia), Kaÿn Lab (Ethiopia), Mapei (Sweden), Bereket Abebe (Ethiopia), Winyo (Kenya), Jemberu Demeke (Ethiopia), HaddinQo with Desta Groove (Ethiopia), Samuel Yirga (Ethiopia), Stewart Sukuma & Banda Nkhuvu (Mozambique), and Roha Band ft. Fikeraddis Nekatibeb (Ethiopia).
