Boda Love is set to premiere on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Anga Cinema, Diamond Plaza, Nairobi.
The film tells the story of a humble boda boda (motorcycle taxi) rider who rescues a British woman after she falls for an internet romance scam in Kenya.
After a whirlwind online romance, a lonely British woman, Charlotte, comes to Kenya to track down her ‘fiancé,’ only to find everything is a lie. Things take a turn for the worse when all her belongings are stolen. However, she is helped by boda boda driver Jabari, who gives her a place to stay in his crowded home in Kaloleni. As the two work together to find her fiancé, Charlotte bonds with Jabari’s busy family, and the two start to fall in love. But they’ve both been burnt before, so what makes it different this time?
The 108-minute-long movie is Notting Hill meets Nairobi, starring Duncan Murunyu and British actress Greer Dale-Foulkes, among other amazing local actors. The crew was made up of some of Kenya’s finest filmmakers, including the people behind Supa Modo and The First Grader.
The launch will feature music from Billy Black, Tetu Shani, Njoki Karu, Charisma, and Muthaka. Billy Black has also created an original song for the film.
