Brahman Hills, a leading destination in the Midlands, has once again been recognised – this time with the 2025 Best of PMB & Midlands Readers’ Choice Award – an honour determined entirely by the local community.

The initiative forms part of the long-standing Best of South Africa Awards, which has celebrated  South African business excellence through community voting for over 30 years.

This year marked the inaugural launch of Best of PMB & Midlands, giving residents in the area an opportunity to nominate and vote for their favourite local businesses, service providers and hidden gems across diverse sectors – from hospitality and hair salons to legal, medical and motoring services.

The competition attracted an impressive 225,000 votes, demonstrating remarkable engagement and support from the Pietermaritzburg and KwaZulu-Natal Midlands communities.

According to Brahman Hills director Onwaba Gonyora, being recognised by the people who know them best makes this award especially meaningful.

“To be nominated and voted for by one’s community is a huge honour. This award belongs to everyone who has walked through our gates, celebrated with us, and believed in what we’re building here in the Midlands,” said Onwaba Gonyora.

This accolade adds to the various other awards Brahman Hills has received this year including: Winner of the KwaZulu-Natal Top Business Awards in the Renewable Efficiency – Green Initiatives category, Winner of the International Destination Deluxe Awards in the Spa of the Year category and the TopVendor award for Best Upcoming Wedding Venue.

Our sincere thanks to all our valued supporters for believing in us and for celebrating local excellence through their votes,” added Gonyora.

“Congratulations to all the other winners and a special thank you to my amazing team – none of this would be possible without them,” she concluded.
