Call for applications: British Council’s SoCreative Africa learning programme

The British Council Zimbawe is calling on early-stage young African entrepreneurs to apply for its SoCreative Africa learning programme.

The SoCreative Africa learning programme targets young entrepreneurs and offers a range of free online programmes for the next generation of African leaders, assisting them on their professional journey.

Upon finishing the programme, individuals will obtain a certificates as proof of their achievement. The certificates will make one eligible to apply for ongoing support through mentoring, teaching, incubation, and acceleration as part of our broader efforts in participating nations.

The programme is developed to help the British Council’s wider Creative Economy strand, designed to assist develop an ecosystem wherein young entrepreneurs can thrive.

 Programme modules

Creative entrepreneurship

Basic 
Understanding the creative economy (Including what sectors represent the creative economy, the financial, social and cultural worth of the creative industries) utilizing related case research and knowledge to assist understanding).

Course 1: Introduction to African creative economy  
Course 2: Bringing your idea to life  
Course 3: Finding the right people  
Course 4: Building your business  
Course 5: Branding and marketing your business 

Intermediate 
With the essential course as a advisable pre-requisite, the intermediate course will present extra depth to fundamental programs and contains the next: 

Course 1: Your entrepreneurship strategy  
Course 2: Personal and business growth strategies  
Course 3: Protecting my business  
Course 4: Finance for creative business  
Course 5: Building and leading teams  
Course 6: Raising capital for my business  
Course 7: Promoting and pitching my business  

Social Impact by means of creative entrepreneurship 

Provide individuals with an understanding of influence entrepreneurship, social innovation and elements to think about in pivoting enterprises to realize social influence

Topic 1: Introduction to ‘impact entrepreneurship’  
Topic 2: Introduction to impact economy – balancing revenue with influence  
Topic 3: Understanding social innovation (together with Human Centered Design)  
Topic 4: Factors to think about in pivoting your enterprise to realize social influence  
Topic 5: Impact entrepreneurship of the twenty first century: The position of know-how  
Topic 6: Inclusion, sustainability and values and ethics  
Topic 7: Types of financing for impact enterprises and find out how to appeal to them

Creative economy policy

This intermediate course supplies related perception for coverage stakeholders in relation to the artistic economic system 

Topic 1: Refresher on introduction to policy making  
Topic 2: Understanding the creative economy  
Topic 3: The position of artistic economic system in sustainable improvement  
Topic 4: Approaches to creative economy policy
