Call for artists: Bayimba International Festival of the Arts

Bayimba Cultural Foundation in Uganda is calling on artists to submit applications to perform at the 16th edition of the Bayimba International Festival of the Arts in Lunkulu Island from August 22-24, 2025.

The Bayimba Festival presents a multidisciplinary programme of artists from around the world in music, dance, film, fashion, photography, storytelling, theatre and visual arts.

Preference is given to

  • Artists with unique artistic identity and ready production.
  • Women artists or groups led by women.
  • Young, new and budding talents.
  • Production content or exhibitions that are to be presented live.

Required documents

  • Two recent live performance video links (format MP4, each 200MB max).
  • Two high-resolution promotional images in JPG format (minimum 2MB each).
  • Stage plan and technical Rider.
  • Artist profile (max. 200 words).
  • Confirmation of travel sponsorship if coming from outside Uganda

How to apply

The deadline to receive your complete application is May 30 2025 at 23.59pm EAT.

Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed.

If selected, Bayimba will cover the following expenses for participating artists plus one crew member:

  • Modest honorarium, aka performance fee.
  • Per diems, for meals and incidentals.
  • Accommodation (only camping at Lunkulu Island).
  • All local transport related to the performance.
  • Uganda visa costs.
  • Festival passes for the duration of the event.
  • Invitations to press conferences and other events.
  • Artist’s profile in festival programmes, press releases, website and social media platforms.
  • Travel sponsor logo with link in our website, festival programmes and social media.
