Chakula x Heavy Is the Crown: A One-Man Show by Chimano – The Africa Centre, London, UK, on July 31

By:

British Council

In partnership with The Africa Centre as part of UK/Kenya Season, this month you can enjoy three events with Willis Chimano, founding member of Kenya’s world-renowned band Sauti Sol. In a raw and deeply vulnerable performance, Chimano blends music, monologue and movement in his one-man show. He’ll also be in conversation at an evening celebrating his new book Heavy is the Crown.

Heavy Is the Crown is Chimano’s story – unfiltered and unflinching. From stardom to solitude, from silence to voice, this show invites audiences to witness a journey of liberation as Chimano confronts societal expectations, queerness, and the inner call to rise as his fullest self. Roots ‘n’ Rhythms hosted by Nzube Amoo.
