This is exactly what Nairobi girl Nissy Wakiiya had in mind this past week when she travelled with a group of 11 friends from the Kenyan capital to Lily’s Haven, located in the picturesque coastal town of Malindi, to celebrate her 18th birthday milestone.
The week was filled with exciting adventures and unforgettable experiences, showcasing the stunning beauty of the region.
The celebration kicked off with a thrilling dolphin-watching and snorkelling excursion, where the group was mesmerised by the vibrant marine life and playful dolphins swimming in the crystal-clear waters. The laughter and joy in the ocean set the perfect tone for the festivities ahead.
Next on the agenda, a visit to the historic Vasco da Gama Pillar added a touch of cultural immersion to the celebrations, allowing the group to appreciate the history and significance of this iconic landmark.
The day continued with a unique falconry experience, where they learned the art of training birds of prey. The friends were captivated by the beauty and grace of the birds, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime.
This was followed by a breathtaking tour of Marafa Hell’s Kitchen, known for its dramatic landscape and stunning rock formations. The friends marvelled at the colourful hues of the cliffs, capturing the moment with countless photos against the stunning backdrop.
The grand climax of the celebration was a vibrant birthday party complete with decorations, music, and heartfelt tributes to Nissy, hosted by her lovely grandmother, senior counsel Lilian Mwaura. Surrounded by friends and an atmosphere filled with joy, Nissy’s 18th birthday was truly a treat, marking the beginning of her new journey into adulthood.
The group returned to Nairobi filled with unforgettable memories and a strengthened bond, already dreaming of their next adventure together.
