Kenyan producer and musician DTX has released his latest offering ‘Get Down’ featuring rapper Fena Gitu, rising star Mr Tee and trap sensation Boutross.
Another juicy pick from the renowned producer’s locker, the record oozes urban Kenyan pop genre arbantone, popular for sampling dancehall and partly golden Kenyan classics, with a spinoff of inviting today’s generation of artists to provide their take on the same.
Modernising Prezzo and Nazizi’s club banger, ‘Let’s Get Down’, the track boldly draws inspiration from the genge hit, breathing new life into a beloved classic, while bridging generations of sound, the raw energy of Genge, the swagger of Trap and the street-smart pulsation of arbantone.
“I love how Arbantone and Gengetone sample great songs of the past. I hoped to bring back the nostalgia of some of my favourite artists growing up. Prezzo was one of them and his song with Nazizi was the very inspiration for this track,” DTX says.
Fena Gitu, known for her genre-fluidity, infuses depth and soul into ‘Get Down’. On the other end, Boutross, among the pioneers of Nairobi’s trap movement, injects lyrical grit and contemporary flair. Lastly, Mr Tee, a dominant voice in the Arbantone scene, adds a youthful fire and street resonance, making the track an all-generation appealing piece of art.

Outside of the record, DTX and the collaborators have been teasing the song on TikTok – with videos amassing well over 100,000 views, building glowing reviews and large anticipation.
DTX, whose real name is Derrick Gaitara, is a Kenyan music producer and songwriter who has been active in the music industry for over 10 years. He has become known for his versatile production style, encompassing various genres, including pop, electronic, hip hop, R&B, dancehall, Afrobeat, trap, drill, dubstep, and EDM.
