Now well established as Kenya’s most diverse celebration of New Year, the Beneath The Baobabs Festival 2024/25 marks an incredible 10 years of New Year festivals in Kilifi. It provides a platform for contemporary Kenyan music, art and dance, whilst celebrating one of the most beautiful regions of Kenya.
The 2024/25 Beneath The Baobabs (BTB) festival details were unveiled at a media launch and pop-up event in Nairobi (7th November 2024) at the K.O. Kraft Room in Westlands. The event brought together a selection of artists who are part of the festival’s line-up.
They included Emmanuel Jal, Hiribae, MGM, Ghedi, Tina Ardor, Soulfud, DJ Miss Ray and KNVL. They were joined by media personalities, industry stakeholders and fans who were eager to indulge and network with the BTB festival team.
Beneath the Baobabs Festival has become one of East Africa’s most anticipated New Year’s music and arts extravaganza. It has now grown to be one of Kenya’s top international events, showcasing the best in contemporary dance music and performances.
This year the festival invites some very special headliners from East and South Africa, with a special focus on Mijikenda and Swahili Bands, MCs, DJs and Performers to lead the charge.
The Beneath The Baobabs Festival line-up consistently unites respected names of the Kenyan electronic music scene, exciting emerging acts shifting the landscape in East Africa and globally, as well as a carefully curated selection of international acts keen to experience the magic of Kilifi.
Beneath The Baobabs Festival have just dropped their first 30 acts for the NYE Festival of two days and nights, across 5 stages in the Baobab Forest of Kilifi. International headliners include SA Amapiano legend, Vigro Deep, the Godfather of Kenyan Alternative music Blinky Bill will cross us into the New Year; followed by the amazing Kampire from Uganda; on opening night we are honoured to host South African super star Desire for a Mmino Takeover; whilst crossing us into New Year on an Afro-House tip will be the effervescent Emmanuel Jal of South Sudan, performing with live dancers and musicians.
Beneath The Baobabs Festival is best known for its work in developing the Kenyan music scene, offering a platform for new and established acts and sounds to represent the hard work done in the clubs and on tour.
With sounds ranging from Amapiano to Afro House; House to Techno; Global Bass to Hip Hop; Arbantone & Afrobeats to live music; the festival caters for all party goers ensuring there is a sound for everyone to immerse themselves in.
