GAC International has officially launched its CKD (Completely Knocked Down) localization project in Egypt, marking a significant milestone in China-Africa industrial collaboration.

The announcement was made during the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area–Africa (Egypt) Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference, held successfully in Cairo. The high-level event brought together key government and business leaders from both regions.

Dignitaries in attendance included Tsang Kwok-wai, secretary for constitutional and mainland affairs of the Hong Kong SAR; Yu Yusheng, chairman of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute; and Mohamed Abou El Enein, Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives.

Representing GAC Group were Feng Xingya, chairman and president of GAC Group, along with Wei Haigang and Wang Shunsheng, president and vice president of GAC International. Senior leadership from Abdul Latif Jameel Motors also joined the event.

Together, they signed a strategic localization cooperation agreement, setting the stage for GAC’s CKD production initiative in Egypt and reinforcing long-term industrial and trade ties between China and Africa.

During the event, Wei Haigang, President of GAC International, emphasized the company’s growing global footprint, noting that GAC International now operates in 76 countries and regions worldwide, supported by a comprehensive ecosystem covering sales, service, and localized operations.

The newly signed CKD localization project in Egypt will involve the construction of key production lines—including welding, final assembly, and vehicle inspection. Mass production is slated to begin in the second half of 2026, significantly enhancing GAC’s local manufacturing and service capabilities.

This initiative is expected to contribute meaningfully to the modernization of Egypt’s automotive sector and strengthen its manufacturing competitiveness.

Following the conference, Feng Xingya, chairman and president of GAC Group, met with Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry of Egypt.

The two held high-level talks aligned with Egypt’s National Industrial Strategy, culminating in the signing of a strategic cooperation framework agreement—a landmark move in deepening China-Egypt automotive collaboration.

This partnership reflects the shared commitment of the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Egyptian Government to advance industrial cooperation under the “local manufacturing, local service” model. It also injects new technological momentum into Egypt’s automotive industry.

Recognizing Egypt as a strategic hub for the Middle East and Africa, GAC International, in collaboration with Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, will continue expanding its presence across Africa. This initiative directly supports Egypt Vision 2030 and opens a dynamic new chapter in China-Africa economic cooperation
