Kenyan artist Njerae shares Beg for It single

Kenyan artist Njerae has released a new track titled ‘Beg for It’.

Teaming up with her collaborator and power producer Kobby Worldwide, ’Beg for It’ showcases Njerae’s distinctive vocal style and songwriting craftsmanship, further solidifying her position as a rising star in the Kenyan music scene.

“‘Beg For It is an Afro-R&B track that speaks to the importance of communication in a relationship” Njerae says.

‘Beg for It’, tells the story of a lover-girl who is knee-deep in love. She expresses that she not only wants this man, but she yearns for his love and is virtually willing to beg for it.

On the song Njerae explores the initial confusion that comes with loving someone and the lengths we go to show it.

“I have always been a fan of open communication in relationships but sometimes I also realise that it can be hard to say what you want to say,” Njerae said. “‘Beg for It’ was my attempt at letting him know that I not only want but need his love.”

Njerae and Kobby have previously combined for her chart-topping ‘Aki Sioni’ single (currently at 1.7 million streams on Spotify) and ‘OTD’ (1.1 million on Spotify), as well as on Njerae’s debut album Unintentional.

Two years later, Unintentional remains in the Apple Music Kenya Top 50 albums, while ‘Aki Sioni’ maintains a lofty 15th place in the Apple Music Top 100 Kenya charts. Aki Sioni’ has amassed a combined 3 million streams across different platforms.

The release comes on the back of a successful 2024 where Njarae signed with Universal Music Group East Africa.

She was also named Top 100 Kenyans for her influence on youth through music by popular media outlet Kenyans.co.ke and notched the Album of the Year Award in a fan-voted category for Unintentional at the inaugural digital 254 Radio Awards.

In the performance realm, Njerae co-headlined Blankets & Wine Festival, along with a string of performances at Raha Fest, Nairobi Street Food Festival, and The Beneath The Baobab Festival.

For the better part of 2024, many of her fans stated that they loved the place Njerae was in and that she should keep writing love songs that many relate to.

With a new campaign, #NjeraeSupremacy, the singer’s fans can look forward to more surprises in 2025. ”The plan is to take the brand Njerae a notch higher. More music, performances, tours, honestly just delivering for my fans,” Njerae said.
