Kenyan artists Zawadi Mukami and M. Rumbi drop Jua Tua single

Kenyan artists Zawadi Mukami and M. Rumbi have released a new track titled ‘Jua Tua’.

‘Jua Tua’ is a captivating and rhythmic track that celebrates the vibrant culture of Kenya while reflecting on the everyday experiences of its citizens.

First written during a Sonnets on a Sofa (SOAS) session, Zawadi decided to complete the song at a mini-writing camp, infusing it with personal insights and cultural significance.

The lyrics weave together relatable moments, using phrases that resonate deeply with locals. The phrase “jua ni ya mvua”, which loosely translates to “the sun brings the rain”, captures a common view among Kenyans about the weather and life’s unpredictability, evoking nostalgia and humour. The song emphasises living in the moment amid challenges, inviting listeners to appreciate their surroundings.

Musically, ‘Jua Tua’ features soothing acoustic guitar throughout, creating a warm and inviting soundscape. Zawadi’s high vocal presence brings an emotional balance to the track, perfectly complementing the laid-back instrumentation. The overall mood is romantic and chill, making it an ideal backdrop for intimate gatherings or quiet moments of reflection.

Overall, ‘Jua Tua’ transcends mere entertainment; it is an exploration of love, culture, and everyday life in Kenya. With its relatable themes and engaging melodies, this track resonates with fans of pop and acoustic African music alike, providing a heartfelt soundtrack for those who cherish the beauty of their environment while navigating life’s complexities.
