Not even a touch of summer rain could slow down the eager members of the MATH Wine Club, as Math Restaurant once again set the tone for Joburg’s wine-forward lifestyle scene with another sold-out edition of the beloved series.

Hosted on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Waterfall Corner, the evening unfolded as an elegant, unhurried journey through taste, texture, and connection reaffirming Math as one of the city’s most inviting destinations for modern, relaxed luxury.

Guests eased into the night with a coastal-inspired entrée: mussels, shrimp, and calamari in a silky Napolitana sauce, lifted beautifully by the crisp freshness of Aslina Sauvignon Blanc.

The second course introduced a vibrant play on colour and earthiness, char-grilled carrots and beets served over spicy hummus and finished with delicate feta crumbs, paired with the rounded warmth of the Aslina Chardonnay 2023.

As conversations deepened and glasses refilled, the room moved into a fuller-bodied moment: mint-crusted lamb with chipotle sauce and corn salsa, paired with the crowd favourite of the evening — Umsasane Blanc 2023, Aslina’s expressive blend named in honour of the winemaker’s grandmother.

For dessert, guests were treated to a refreshing and airy finale: a citrus and berries Eton mess, layered with Chantilly cream and berry compote, brought to life by the elegant depth of Aslina Cabernet Sauvignon 2022.

“There’s a beautiful sense of community that unfolds at every MATH Wine Club. We want our guests to feel like they’re enjoying a glass in their own living room, comfortable, welcomed, and part of something shared. That spirit of su casa, mi casa is at the heart of what we do,” said founder of Math Restaurant Puleng Mathabathe.
