MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited has announced the appointment of Sarah Bateta Okwi as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective February 28, 2026. She succeeds Richard Yego, who will step down as managing director after four years in the role.
Prior to Sarah’s appointment, she was chief financial officer of MTN Mobile Money Uganda.
In her role as CFO, Sarah has been instrumental in driving key strategic and financial initiatives that have supported MTN MoMo Uganda’s growth and operational resilience.
Prior to this, Sarah held the role of senior manager: finance operations at MTN Rwanda, consistently delivering strategic, operational and financial results.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting from Makerere University Business School and is an FCCA and CPA(U). MTN MoMo Uganda’s commitment to its customers, partners, employees and stakeholders remains unchanged.
The business remains focused on its journey towards the implementation of its strategy to become a fully digital-native platform while expanding access to inclusive financial services across Uganda.
The company’s Board of Directors expressed gratitude for Yego’s leadership and contributions to the company’s growth and strategic direction, and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
