Sound and Music in the UK is looking for composers or music creators based in ODA countries (listed below) to collaborate with UK-based composers to create a new work for radio, which will be broadcast in autumn 2025 with partner radio stations.

Three UK-based composers and three composers from ODA countries will be selected to form collaboration pairs.

The composers will decide how best to create aspects of the final commissioned works. Each composer will be paid a £1,500 commission fee.

Sound and Music has a long-standing partnership and weekly show with experimental radio station Resonance FM (UK) and will showcase this exciting project on the station.

Sound and Music will champion the partnership, artists, new commissions and their learning from the project at relevant music conferences, festivals and their networks.

They will work with the artists and their supporting organisations in the partner countries to take a similar approach and champion the value of new music as a powerful tool to shape and explore the collective experience of the modern world.

The official development assistance countries (ODA) involved are: Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar, Nigeria, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela and Vietnam.
