Thrive Africa Vegan Women initiative donated assorted plant-based fresh food to participants of the Runway Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) bootcamp being held at Saffron Garden Hotel in Malindi, Kenya, this week.
The donation was handed over to Saffron communication director Ruth Onyango by Thrive Africa co-manager Ms Virginia Ruguru. Present at the event was the founder of Runway Against GBV, who is also the president of the Sexual Survivors Network (SSV) Coast Region, Ms Noni Mbugguss.
Ms Ruguru, also known as Aunty Vee, will deliver a motivational talk at the three-day event, highlighting the significant mental and physical benefits of plant-based nutrition for the survivors. Additionally she will discuss how plant-based nutrition supports mental health, promotes physical recovery, and enhances overall well-being.
Ms Ruguru will also participate in the bootcamp, guiding survivors through the restorative power of plant-based foods.
Thanking her, Ms Onyango said plant-based food is very important in the everyday diet, and they have incorporated that into their restaurant à la carte menu.
Ms Mbugguss added that Thrive Africa’s donation and participation in Runway Against GBV is a major boost that will not only uplift the survivors participating in the event but also the community at large.
