Viva Global, a trailblazer in Kenya’s wine importation and distribution industry, is proud to announce the return of the Viva Global Wine Expo, scheduled for August 20–21, 2025, at the Park Inn by Radisson, Nairobi from 12–7pm on both days.
Tickets are now available via Hustle Sasa. Entry includes access to tastings and pairing experiences (tickets to taster classes are limited).
This year’s event will highlight eight companies, 20 wine brands and six countries. The two-day event, highlighting Kenya’s fast-growing wine appreciation movement, is expected to bring together over 500 guests who will amplify the event’s cultural impact. Attendees will include wine lovers, makers and sommeliers, trade experts, hospitality professionals, embassy delegates, influencers and local and international media.
Meera Karia, Director of Business Development at Viva Global says: “We’re excited to return after our first successful Expo in 2019. This year’s edition is more comprehensive and reflective of where Kenya’s wine scene is headed. We are creating a space not only to taste but to learn, network and celebrate an evolving culture that has emerged around wine in Kenya. It’s also a signal that we’re back after Covid, stronger and more resilient.”
Participants will enjoy a variety of curated experiences, including themed tasting sessions like “The Rosé Affair,” which explores the nuances of rosé wines, guided walk-through tastings, exclusive WSET (Wines & Spirits Education Trust) tasting classes and indulgent cheese and wine pairing sessions in collaboration with wine partners.
Kenya’s wine market has witnessed dynamic shifts in recent years. Following a pandemic-induced slowdown in nightlife and hospitality, the retail and home consumption of wine grew exponentially. Millennial and Gen Z consumers, particularly women aged 23–28, are driving demand for sweeter wines, experiences that reflect modern lifestyle trends. As Meera notes, “There’s a wave of younger consumers who love to associate with wine—not just for the drink but for the culture, the pairing and the experience.”
Cities are key growth areas—fueled by restaurant culture, event tourism and a growing appetite for international cuisine. However, the industry continues to face challenges, including heavy taxation, seasonality in tourism and parallel imports which threaten quality control.
Rupen Samani, Chairman of Viva Global, says: “We are proud to host the Viva Global Wine Expo for the second time after six years since its debut. This return not only reflects our company’s resilience but also highlights the remarkable growth of Kenya’s hospitality and beverage industry. It’s especially meaningful as we mark 25 years in the business. We remain committed to responding to the evolving needs of our clients and consumers, and it’s exciting to witness the continued expansion of the market.”
This year’s expo is especially significant as it marks 25 years of Viva Global’s commitment to shaping Kenya’s evolving wine culture, connecting global producers with local audiences, and elevating wine appreciation in the region. As Viva Global continues to lead in innovation, education and beverage excellence, the Viva Global Wine Expo 2025 serves as a landmark event for Kenya’s food, wine and lifestyle industries. With Kenya’s economy projected to grow, Viva Global is setting the stage for a wine renaissance in the region.
