The Nairobi Comic Convention (NAICCON) is back at The Junction Mall on Ngong Road this Saturday, 16 November 2024 (10am-6pm), with an after-party in the evening.
Now in its 10th edition, this year, NAICCON has partnered with online African movie retailer and distributor YAKWETU as part of its Animation & Film Festival 2024 that will feature panel discussions and screenings.
“In every collaboration, we are always intentional about making a sustainable and transformative impact on the creative industry of Africa. As such, the NAICCON Animation & Film Festival is a natural fit for our support”, says Mike Strano, co-founder and chief operations officer at YAKWETU. “Furthermore, for everyone who registers for the festival, we are gifting a free seven-day rental of the award-winning animation: Death Valley, on our MyMovies.Africa.”
The annual fun celebration of pop-culture in Africa, includes art, comic books, cosplay, Esports, gaming and tech, as well as an animation and film festival.
The event attracts enthusiastic animators, artists, comic book collectors, cosplayers, digital content creators, families, fans, gamers, illustrators, movie buffs, YouTubers and more.

The 2024 Animation & Film Festival, within Nairobi Comic Con, includes important panel discussions and screenings, being co-hosted by YAKWETU, including:
10.30am-11.15am: Harnessing new Technology for Storytelling, and Transforming Marketing & Distribution through Digital Innovation.
Andrew Kaggia – award-winning filmmaker and 3D animator, Afrikana Digital.
Dean Gichukie – co-founder and game producer, Kunta content.
Jeff Schon – chief executive officer and co-founder, Akili Network.
11.15am-12.00pm: Unlocking the potential of African animation, by exploring opportunities and shaping the future.

Susan Kimanzi – partnerships and business development lead, White Rhino Films.
12.00pm–12.45pm: Securing funding and resources for African animations and films.
