At Math Restaurant, dining has always been about more than food; it is a celebration of South African creativity, community, and connection. The newly launched MATH Wine Club continues that ethos, curating intimate monthly experiences where wine lovers, winemakers and culinary creatives gather under one roof in Waterfall, Johannesburg.
The next Wine Club evening will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Waterfall Corner, with guests welcomed from 18:00 for an 18:30 start. This edition will highlight the elegance and heritage of Taaibosch Wines and Le Chant Wines, paired with an exclusive four-course menu curated by Chef Ean.
Presented in partnership with LAB Wines & Spirits and hosted by esteemed wine specialist Amos Sobashe, a semi-finalist for Best Sommelier of South Africa, the evening invites guests on a journey through terroir, craftsmanship, and culture — with each pour revealing its own unique story.
Designed to make wine culture both refined and welcoming, the MATH Wine Club focuses on discovery through storytelling, where tasting becomes a shared experience and wine appreciation becomes communal rather than exclusive.
“Wine has always been about people, about conversation, warmth, and connection. That’s what we do at Math,” said founder of MATH, Puleng Mathabathe. “Through the Wine Club, we wanted to make wine culture less intimidating and more communal, where exploration feels like an extension of our motto: When We Gather.”
Previous evenings have featured exceptional houses such as Morgenster Estate Wines and Foundry Wines, with each edition selling out due to its unmatched pairing of hospitality, insight, and culinary innovation.
